A month ago, European Panel Federation visited Unilin Bazeilles.

The visit marked an important milestone in the involvement with the CISUFLO project, funded by the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme. This initiative is paving the way for advancements in the wood-based panels industry.

At Unilin Bazeilles, EPF had the opportunity to witness firsthand the intersection of cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices. From state-of-the-art machinery to eco-conscious processes, high-level contributions to resource efficiency were evident throughout the visit.

A major highlight of the tour was observing the innovative technologies recycling MDF and HDF waste back into MDF/HDF manufacturing through the fully automated Osiris pilot line. This impressive system showcases the company’s long-term investment in innovation, aiming to replace at least 25% of the raw materials mix for MDF and HDF boards with recycled fibers in the future.

The tour demonstrated the economically viable process of recovering wood fibers from boards and reusing them to produce high-quality fiberboards on an industrial scale.

This visit has reinforced our commitment to sustainable innovation within the wood-based panels industry.
